Dr. Kelly Georgeou has been practicing veterinary medicine since 1996. She earned her veterinary degree at the University of Pennsylvania and her undergraduate degree at Virginia Wesleyan College. Dr. Georgeou grew up in Pennsylvania and moved to Phoenix, AZ after completing veterinary school. In 2009, she and her family moved back east to beautiful Spruce Pine, NC, where she became the proud owner of Mitchell Veterinary Hospital.
Family is very important to Dr. Georgeou. She has been married to her husband Lex since 1994. Lex is a graphic and fine artist. They have 2 lovely daughters whom they spoil endlessly. A black furry mutt, a boxer dog, a sweet kitty, chickens, a bearded dragon, 2 rats and the girls’ hermit crab collection also share the Georgeous’ hearts and home.
When not busy running the practice, Dr. Georgeou enjoys outdoor activities with her family, rock and gem hunting, watching movies, reading and cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles. Lex is a Washington Redskins fan, so there is always a good rivalry come football season! The girls keep both parents busy all year long.
“I love veterinary medicine and the daily joys and challenges it brings. Helping people understand basic pet care, prevention of disease and treating illness are all important parts of my job. I hope to use all of the knowledge I have gained over the years to provide compassionate care to pets and help people provide the best health care for their four-legged family members.”
