Kelly Georgeou, VMD

Veterinarian

Growing up in Pennsylvania, I was always fascinated by all living things. I was the kid who rescued earthworms when it rained. I doted on my pets. In school, the sciences were my favorite to learn about. These things all created my passion for veterinary medicine. So, I eventually obtained my veterinary degree at the University of Pennsylvania.

I treasure the relationships I can create with my patients and clients in veterinary medicine. There is nothing like the bond between a person and their pet. I get to foster and promote that every day. Veterinary medicine is full of joys and challenges and I enjoy learning more every day I am in practice.

I have been the proud owner of Mitchell Veterinary Hospital since 2009. Living here in the small town of Spruce Pine has been a joy for myself, my husband and my 2 daughters. We have enjoyed the outdoor activities and warm, friendly environment. My goal is to create that same warm, friendly environment here in my hospital as well.

Lacey Pendley

Veterinary Assistant

Lacey really enjoys being a veterinary assistant. Her favorite parts are helping pets in their time of need, lab work, and being part of a medical team. Although she hasn’t been in the veterinary field for long, she has had a lifelong love of animals. Lacey is our resident reptile and spider hobbyist! She also has a couple of kitties to cuddle at home. In her time away from the hospital she enjoys crafting and photography.

Sarah Cole

Front Office Manager/Veterinary Assistant

Sarah is a great member of our awesome team here at Mitchell Veterinary Hospital. She loves working with pets and learning about performing diagnostics. In her time off, Sarah enjoys sewing, cooking, and gardening. Sarah shares her home with 2 rambunctious pups, Barry and Jack.

Brittany Marsh

Veterinary Assistant

Brittany has always loved spending time with and learning about animals. Brittany has spent the past few years working at the local animal rescue and has gained valuable animal handling and care skills. She has been certified in the Fear Free program through the shelter and is currently participating in the certification for veterinary assistants. Hiking and spending time with her rescued dog, Bailey are some of the activities she enjoys.

Lacy Bowers

Lacy loves being a part of the Mitchell Veterinary team. She graduated from Clemson in 2019 with a degree in animal and veterinary science. Originally from South Carolina, she moved to Spruce Pine due to her love of the Blue ridge mountains. In her free time she enjoys horseback riding and spending time with her horse, Angel, her dog Nash and her 2 cats and a ferret.

Shelbi Stewart

Customer Service Representative

I was born and raised in Spruce Pine. I love anything and everything when it comes to animals, big and small. I have wanted to be in the veterinary field ever since I was young. I grew up around livestock and dogs and cats. Now I have a springer spaniel who matches my energy better than anyone. In my free time I love to write, swim and everything to do with Jeeps, especially mine.

Aimee Carroll

Customer Service Representative

I was born and raised in Yancey County before moving to Mitchell County 2 years ago. I have had a passion for working with sick and injured animals since I was little. Before joining Dr Georgeou’s team, I worked at Mitchell County Animal Rescue. My love and desire to help animals has carried me over to this new chapter of my life. I currently have 2 dogs, 5 cats, a turtle and a slew of chickens and ducks at my home. I look forward to meeting new people and making new friends, furry or otherwise.
