Having your pet microchipped can save his or her life. If your pet escapes the house or yard and goes missing, the chances of getting reunited are greatly improved if there is microchip identification. A collar or tag can be lost. A microchip is a means of permanent identification.
Anytime a found pet ends up at a vet’s office or shelter, they are scanned first thing to look for a microchip. If there is no chip and the pet ends up staying at the shelter and no home is found, we sadly know what can happen if the shelter runs out of room. We have reunited a few pets even in the past year by using this method. One was several counties away from home. Remarkably, even out of state pets have been reunited with their families.
Please have your pets microchipped and registered ASAP. It could save their lives.
